Andrew Samuels – a forwarded petition to call for an independent investigation into NICE bias towards CBT in IAPT

October 24, 2011

A petition is being ciruclated and professional therapists are invited to sign it:

Andrew Samules: "You can read and sign the petition by clicking on the link below. Please do give your institutional affiliation (UKCP, BPC, BACP, IPN, whatever) as we learned last time that opponents will say these people are not psychotherapists or counsellors."

Part of the petition itself: "We further call for an end to NICE’s discriminatory and unscientific bias towards CBT and the influence this is having over the Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) scheme, the combined impact of which is drastically reducing access to, and threatening the very existence of, a diverse range of clinically effective therapeutic approaches which have thrived for many decades; depriving the public – against Government policy – of the choice, effectiveness and flexibility of services that clients are known to value."
