Struggling with food – different ways of managing the psychological relationship with food

Food is perhaps the first object and certainly the initial model of all internal objects. The first physical pain we experience is hunger and food is always closely assocaited with psychic pain.

When the relationship with food becomes highly problemmatic there are a number of ways of managing it. Some might try a 12 step programme and some might try therapy. Here is an intersting article that compares the two:
